Course Description
NOTE: This 7 hour CE course in only approved for 3.5 hours of POST CPE.
This course addresses addiction issues - drugs of abuse, short- and long-term effects, assessment, treatment, and counseling strategies.
Course Objectives
Define problematic drug use as well as the short and long term effects of specific drugs including the etiology of addiction. Understand the stages of change models and motivational interviewing. Learn to assess Chemical Dependency data to determine initial level of care. Identify treatment modalities to address the individual, group, and family as well as cultural competence.
