Course Description
The DSM-5 represents a fundamental shift in how disorders are conceptualized and diagnosed. The workshop provides an overview of the manual's new organization, other innovations such as spectrum disorders and the relationship between DSM-5 and the ICD. Participants learn the nuts and bolts of using the manual and coding a DSM-5 diagnosis. The program reviews major classes of psychiatric disorders with particular attention paid to significant changes in the diagnostic criteria. Throughout the workshop participants are given opportunities to practice making a diagnosis using the new system.</span></font>
Course Objectives
