Course Description

This seminar will cover the latest DSM-5® information. Understand the dramatic changes and the implications for all practitioners.

Course Objectives

•Discuss clinical, political, economic, theological, and other influences which bring about these changes in diagnostic classifications.• List at least 7 controversial changes to be included in the DSM-5®. • Describe how these changes and updates may affect your clinical practice.• Discuss ethical issues that mental health professionals may encounter as a result of this new diagnostic tool.• Explore changes in diagnosing children and adolescent mental health conditions.• Assess the nature of trauma disorders and how the DSM-5® will affect treatment. • Address the DSM-5® methodologies regarding medical disorders. • Identify significant changes regarding suicide,self-mutilation, dissociation and addiction disorders.
