Course Description

This workshop presents an overview of many activities in the specialty’s four domains of practice: assessment, intervention, operational support, and organizational consulting.

Course Objectives

Participants will learn common service delivery models in a variety of practice settings. The presenters will discuss the history and emergence of the specialty, functional competencies associated with the primary services offered by specialists in each domain, as well as the opportunities for practice in police, fire, dispatch, corrections, intelligence community, military, and other public safety settings. In addition, we will describe the foundational competencies required for competent practice. Practical suggestions for candidates who are considering or pursuing ABPPSP board certification (i.e., preparing for the practice sample and oral examination phases) will also be offered.
