Introducing New POST Employee - Marilyn Earhart, Librarian

I began working at UC Davis Law Library while I was an undergraduate. After graduating with my BA in Criminal Justice from Sacramento State University, I moved to the Bay Area and began working for Santa Clara University School of Law Library while pursuing my Masters in Library Science. I worked for Santa Clara University for over ten years and started to become interested in working for law firms.

At that time, law firms were not a strong employer in the South Bay or the Peninsula. However, as Silicon Valley began to develop, several large firms expanded their practice on the West Coast, opening practices in San Francisco and the South Bay Area. I was lucky to have worked for some of these outstanding firms, and also for the Federal Public Defender’s Office in San Jose.

I partnered with another Librarian to form a business assisting law firms with the initial set up of their libraries. This opportunity allowed me to develop my skills in legal research and reference, library technical services and access services, purchasing, vendor relationships, and physical library set-up—anything that would allow a law or corporate library to become an independent operation.

I began my career with the state in 2007 as a Library Technical Assistant II Supervisor at the California State Library in the Information Resources and Government Publications Department. I look forward to being a part of the POST Library team developing new services for all of our library users!

Introducing New POST Employee - Trish Pielenz, Course Control Assistant

I started as a part-time Course Control Assistant in the Training Delivery and Compliance Services Bureau on January 30, 2009. As a part-time employee, I am able to balance time between my new POST family and my husband and children.

My husband and I live in Lincoln and are the proud parents of two boys, age 4 and 2. My husband is a Ranger with State Parks and works at Folsom Lake. Prior to working at POST I worked at Progressive Insurance Co. I am very excited about this new role and am looking forward to a long career at POST.
