POST Library Services
Online Catalog
Besides books, journals, e-books, journal articles, and government documents, our online catalog provides access to all POST Library collections: Command College papers, Master Instructor projects, POST publications, and selected POST archives.
Research and Reference Services
Our information research specialists are available to consult or conduct research on law enforcement topics. We serve not only POST staff researchers, but also peace officers throughout California, and current students and instructors of POST programs. For research or a library visit, email the library or call (916) 227-3765.
Online Resources
Access to online databases is provided for California state employees by the California State Library. Users must be in a state agency building to access these commercial databases. Librarians can conduct a search at any time; call (916) 227-3765 to discuss your topic, or email the library.
Instruction
POST Librarians are available to give instruction on Law Enforcement Research, Copyright, Research Services, and other topics.
POST Article Database
Many law enforcement publications are unavailable on commercial databases. To allow for electronic access, the POST Library staff has created a law enforcement article database for these trade publications, which is searchable on the library online catalog.
Borrowing Materials
Library materials are loaned to POST staff only. External researchers may arrange to borrow materials using interlibrary loan (ILL) through their own public or university libraries.
Interlibrary Loan
Photocopying and scanning services are available. We can fax articles to your email. NOTE: POST owns the copyright on all POST materials. For permission to use POST publications, contact Laurel Espell at (916) 227-3204.
