CPT Credit: 10 Hours for each course
Description: These two courses are packaged together,
and together, meet the requirements of a drug influence 11550 H&S
course. In conjunction with other training and field experience,
the courses give the learner the knowledge and skill required to
testify as an expert in court.
Drug Identification and the Law covers history and types
of abuse, the physical forms, the method of usage, paraphernalia
and packaging, slang terminology, and the specific law codes that
can be applied to each.
Drug Influence and User Identification covers the physiological
effects of drugs and the recognition of the physical indicators
and behavior patterns of a person under the influence of drugs.
Both courses should be taken before the course, Driving Under
the Influence.
An agencys policy for handling certain situations may be
different from what is presented in the course. Students taking
the course should be thoroughly familiar with their local policy.
Organization
Tutorial: Covers the design of the courses and
how to use the navigational features. A new user should spend a
few minutes taking the tutorial in one of the courses; the tutorials
are the same in both courses.
Introduction: Provides a memo welcoming the student to
River City and a short video explaining in general what the student
will learn.
Lessons: Each lesson has three parts:
Overview gives key points covered in detail in
the reference manual.
Preparation helps a student determine what he
or she already knows. The results, which only
the student is able to see, help determine which topics to emphasize
while studying.
Practice - gives a student the opportunity to apply
what has been learned from the overview and the reference manual.
Comprehensive Practices: Video-based scenarios give a
student an opportunity to apply what has been learned in the lessons.
Scoring
Final Quiz: The passing score on the final quiz
for each course is 80%.
Features
In order to pass each course, the student must study all
the lessons and comprehensive practices and pass the final quiz,
which can be taken more than once.
Reference Manual: Each course has a reference manual that
is on the CD-ROM. The manuals, which are in Adobe Acrobat®,
can be accessed from anywhere in the course and can be printed.
Glossary: The glossary, which is the same for all four
of the drug courses, contains relevant terms and definitions. It
also can be accessed from anywhere in the course.
