CPT Credit: 6 Hours
Description: Students go on three calls, starting
with the call from dispatch through completing a report and submitting
it for review. Using a form of "virtual reality," students
look for evidence, interview the parties, and take photographs.
A students performance is evaluated by the actions taken at
the scene and by how well the report helped make the case. One can
go on a call as many times as desired.
Organization
Orientation: New users learn how to move through
the "virtual reality" environment, gather evidence, interview
the parties, and complete the report. All students should complete
the orientation before going on the first call.
Calls: There are three calls, "450 Waterford,"
"254 Chestnut," and "217 Glide Ave."
Learning Points: "Strangulation" explores the
signs, symptoms, anatomy, and investigation of strangulation incidents.
This segment by itself may be appropriate for roll-call training.
Scoring
A students performance is evaluated in three areas:
Evidence Collection, Statement Collection, and Arrest/Actions. The
passing score in each area is 50%. These results are viewed only
by the student. When all calls have been successfully completed
and the learning point is viewed, a "pass" is sent to
Managers Edge.TM
Features
Penal Code: The student has access to the Penal
Code sections dealing with domestic violence and related crimes.
Help: Provides detailed instructions on what to do when
in a particular section of the scenario.
