Course Description
This course provides the minimum information necessary
for a trained law enforcement investigator to conduct
an investigation that will conclude a fire or explosion
investigation.
The investigator will be given the information to determine
whether a fire or explosion is accidental or criminal.
This will include the basic techniques, the resources,
and describing the steps necessary to obtain a search
warrant in a fire or explosion incident.

The investigator will be also able to:
- understand and correctly interpret statute and case
laws
- process and correctly identify the steps necessary
to complete a criminal investigation involving a criminal
fire or explosion.
At the conclusion of the course the student will be
able to:
- understand the role and responsibilities of the
fire/explosion investigator
- utilize other fire/explosion investigative techniques
to determine whether a fire/explosion is accidental
or criminal
- effectively use outside financial, corpus, motivational,
and forensic experts in developing their cases and
court presentations.
