Library Catalog
The books are indexed according to the Library of Congress classification system. The journal articles database contains citations to more than 56,000 articles, with some journals dating back to the 1950s. Searchable access points include the author, article title, journal title, subject, month, and year of publication. Keyword searching is possible only in the abstract or table-of-contents field.

How to obtain POST Library materials:
Books are loaned directly to POST staff only. Others may borrow materials from the POST Library via interlibrary loan, using OCLC or an ALA form. Please contact your local public, college, agency, or organization library for interlibrary loan assistance.
How to obtain a copy of an article
In accordance with Title 17, U.S. Code, one copy of an article is available for individual scholarship, research, or educational use. Upon request, the POST Library will provide a single copy of articles to:
- The POST Commission and the Advisory Committee Members
- POST Staff
- Active Duty California Law Enforcement Officers, Dispatchers, and Records Supervisors/Managers
- POST-Certified Training Presenters
- Other Libraries
The POST Library reserves the right to refuse to fulfill a request if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the request would lead to violation of the copyright law.
To request an article, copy the brief citation from the database and paste it into an email to library@post.ca.gov. This will provide the information needed to fill your request.
Please include the following information in your email:
- Your name
- The agency or academy with which you are affiliated
- A daytime phone number
The POST Library prefers to fill all article requests electronically by emailing PDF copies to the requestor. Adobe Acrobat Reader is required to view the PDF. A free copy of Acrobat Reader may be downloaded from the Adobe website. If you wish to request an article but do not have email, please contact the POST Library for assistance with setting up a free email account.
How to obtain a copy of a Command College project
Command College projects are being added to the online Library catalog in the Command College database in PDF format. If you would like to request a project that is not yet available in full text, please email library@post.ca.gov.
