THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS CLASS IS TO REINFORCE EMERGENCY DISPATCHING SKILLS AND CUSTOMER SERVICE POLICY. EACH CLASS WILL DEVELOP THEIR OWN MISSION STATEMENT AND THEN APPLY THOSE GUIDELINES WHILE DISCUSSING DISPATCH RELATED TOPICS SUCH AS: CUSTOMER SERVIC E, PROFESSIONALISM AND ATTITUDE, 911 CALL-TAKING TACTICS, LISTENING AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS, AND MANAGING LARGE SCALE CRITICAL INCIDENTS. A LIBRARY OF OVER 25 AUDIO RECORDINGS OF ACTUAL 911 CALLS WILL BE USED TO EVALUATE PROPER AND INAPPROPRIATE P ERFORMANCE. THESE GRAPHIC CALL EXAMPLES, COUPLED WITH SOME COMMON TEAMWORK AND PROBLEM SOLVING EXERCISES, WILL PROVIDE A DYNAMIC AND INTERACTIVE REMINDER TO EVEN THE MOST EXPERIENCED PUBLIC SAFETY DISPATCHERS, OF WHAT THEY MUST BE PREPARED FOR AND HOW T HEY SHOULD PERFORM WHEN CALLED UPON.

PARTICIPANTS WILL BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY 4 ST AGES OF A CRISIS INCIDENT AND APPLY LEARNED TECHNIQUES AND STYLES TO HANDLE INCIDENTS MORE EFFECTIVELY.
